Objective: To design a new and meaningful experience in a music festival setting, with sensors adding to the senses.
Music festivals are magical, not just because of the music but because of the connections people form. Joris Otten and I wanted to amplify that magic by focusing on one of the most genuine forms of human connection: The hug.

We explored the senses in these connections and found the often-overlooked - sense of smell. This inspired us to create two Arduino-powered festival wearables that make hugs even more enjoyable.

This wearable features conductive material that detects pressure in "hug-areas" on a customizable T-shirt. The Arduino is hidden in a small bag that fits in with the festival fashion. When hugged, a fan activates, blowing a refreshing breeze at the hugger -
a delightful treat in warm and sweaty festival venues.

The Wind Wearable
Similarly designed with pressure-sensitive conductive material on the customizable T-shirt and small bag. When hugged, an air pump releases a fresh scent into the air, making hugs more pleasant after hours of dancing.

The Flower Wearable
This project combined our love for music festivals and a desire to create deeper connections. Through innovative technology and playful design we were able to realize this design. The Pleaser invites festival-goers to celebrate connection and scent in ways that enhance the festival experience.
Turning every hug into a refreshing moment of joy.
